from side of leaf. The pair of acorns to left spring from end of leaf.
R: A monogram cypher, P M Co. WE PROMISE TO PAY THE BEARER ONE PENNY 1788.
Date above the cypher. 1 under second limb of second N, 8 under last
limb of W, R opposite top of C.
